Terms
Scope and provider
These terms apply to the use of IDPortrait and to purchases made on it. The provider of IDPortrait is Aura UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 18, 20459 Hamburg, Germany. Contact: [email protected] or the contact form. By using the tool or buying photo files you accept these terms.
Paddle is our reseller
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. When you buy photo files, your contract of sale is with Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom (Paddle.com Inc. for buyers in the United States and Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. for buyers in Canada). Paddle handles the payment with its invoice and taxes. Paddle also pays out refunds. The Paddle Buyer Terms apply to the purchase in addition to these terms. For questions about a charge you can also contact Paddle at paddle.net.
What the tool does
IDPortrait is software that runs in your browser. It crops your own photo to the published size rules of the document you choose and checks it against them. It can also lighten or replace the background. You get a digital file and a print sheet for printing at home or at a photo shop. The photo is processed on your device and is not uploaded.
We take the rules from the pages of the issuing authorities and show the source and the date of our last check for each document. Rules can change without notice.
Free preview
The tool and a preview with a watermark are free. A free preview is not suitable for an application.
Buying the photo files
For a one-time price of $5.99 (US dollars) per document you get the digital photo file and the print sheets without a watermark for the photo and document you edited. Paddle shows the price in your local currency at checkout and adds or includes sales tax or VAT where it applies. The final amount is shown before you pay. There is no subscription and no account.
The files are created in your browser right after the payment is confirmed. They belong to the document you chose; for another document you buy the files again. You can download them in this browser for two hours after the payment, also after a reload. We never receive your photo, so we cannot send the files later.
Refund if your application is rejected
If the authority rejects your application with a photo you bought from us, we refund the full price. Send us the refund form within 90 days of the purchase with the transaction ID from your Paddle receipt, and attach the rejection notice or a screenshot of it if you have one. You do not need to return anything. The refund is paid by Paddle to the payment method you used.
We refund every rejection of your application by the authority, except in these cases:
- you chose a different document than the one you applied for
- you changed the file after downloading it, or printed it at the wrong size
- the photo is older than the authority allows
- the authority rejected the application for reasons other than the photo (for example missing documents or unpaid fees)
There are no other exceptions. This refund is our own promise and applies in addition to your statutory rights; it does not limit them.
Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you have a right of withdrawal of 14 days from the day of the purchase (section 15 of the Paddle Buyer Terms). Paddle is your contract partner, so you withdraw from the purchase with Paddle.
Consumers in the EU can use the withdrawal button in the Paddle customer portal. You reach it through the link in the receipt email from Paddle or at paddle.net, and the link "Withdraw from contract" at the bottom of every page of this website leads there as well. Consumers in the UK withdraw by contacting Paddle as described in the Paddle refund policy, which consumers in the EU can also use.
You receive the files right after the payment. Before the checkout opens, we ask you to agree that the files are provided immediately, before the withdrawal period ends, and to confirm that you know that you lose your right of withdrawal once the download starts. Without this consent we do not open the checkout. Your right of withdrawal ends when the download starts if you gave this consent and Paddle has confirmed the purchase to you on a durable medium, such as the receipt email. If one of these conditions is not met, you can withdraw within the 14 days.
Our refund for rejected applications above applies in addition.
Your responsibilities
- Use only photos of yourself or of people who have agreed, or for whom you are responsible, such as your children.
- Do not use the tool to create misleading or forged documents.
- Check the current rules of the authority before you apply.
Rights to the software and your photo
The software and the content of IDPortrait belong to Aura UG (haftungsbeschränkt). You may use them only to make photos for your own applications or for people you are responsible for. Your photo and the files made from it remain yours; we receive no rights to them.
Availability and changes
The tool runs in your browser and needs a current browser and enough memory. We try to keep the site available, but we do not promise that it works at all times or on every device. We may change the tool and the list of documents, and we may block access if the tool is misused, for example to make forged documents. Files you have already bought are not affected.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations, limited to the damage typical for this kind of contract. Liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.
Applicable law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live. Information about our company is in the imprint.
